August Wrap Up // audiobook august

You may have noticed (or not, I don’t expect your life to revolve around this blog) that I literally have not posted anything since my July wrap up. This is mostly because in the last month I moved across the country and started graduate school! Not only have I not had time for blogging, but I haven’t had much time for reading either. I only read six books this month, which I realize isn’t atrocious, but it is lower than my average. And just to emphasize how little time I had to read, four of those were audiobooks.

However, I lots of those audiobooks were good! I re-read A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor by Hank Green on audio, and found a new favorite in Julia Whelan’s Thank You for Listening. I also got out of a reading slump at the end of the month reading The Dos and Donuts of Love by Adiba Jaigirdar. Since I haven’t been blogging, this will be an abbreviated monthly wrap-up, but you can still check the rest of it out under the cut!

  • A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor by Hank Green – 4.5/5 stars ★★★★★
  • Thank You for Listening by Julia Whelan – 4.5/5 stars ★★★★★
  • The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller – 3/5 stars ★★★
  • We Keep the Dead Close by Becky Cooper – 3/5 stars ★★★
  • Hester by Laurie Lico Albanese – 4/5 stars ★★★★
  • The Dos and Donuts of Love by Adiba Jaigirdar – 3.5/5 stars ★★★★

I started listening to Tessa Violet’s 2023 album, MY GOD!, and I absolutely love it. I am especially a fan of Kitchen Song and BAD BITCH. Also constantly stuck in my head has been All My Exes’ Moms. I also highly recommend the Planet Money episode related to the WGA strike.

As mentioned, this month could best be described as busy. I moved, and living outside a dorm for the first time means I had to furnish everything. I am still not completely unpacked, and I very sadly still have yet to acquire a bookshelf. All my books are just sitting in a box. But again, I haven’t had much time to read anyway. I started school halfway through the month, and every since then it has been an onslaught of homework. I should really be doing homework now, but we’re ignoring that. But I am finally starting to get into the swing of things. I have been meeting new people and going to fun events, and I am sure before I know it I will be all settled in.

How was your August? Hopefully a little less crazy than mine. Did you read anything great this month? Let me know in the comments!
