March Wrap-Up // it’s the audiobooks for me

Happy Spring! For me, March meant Spring break, and April means I am almost done with the semester (our last day of class is April 29th!). I was traveling over Spring break, so I am actually kind of shocked at how much I managed to read this month. A lot of that was due to audiobooks; half of the books I read this month were audiobooks. I had a very stressful couple weeks after break, so I started comfort re-listening to the Emily Henry cycle.

But I also read 8 new books this month, including a new five star! I read Math in Drag by Kyne Santos (@onlinekyne) and absolutely loved it! If you haven’t seen her TikToks you should totally check them out. I also really loved Just as You Are by Camille Kellogg, I Hope This Doesn’t Find You by Ann Liang, and Even Though I Knew the End by C.L. Polk.

  • Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire – 3.5/5 stars ★★★
  • I Hope This Doesn’t Find You by Ann Liang – 4/5 stars ★★★★
  • Beach Read by Emily Henry (reread) – 5/5 stars ★★★★★
  • Much Ado About Nada by Uzma Jalaluddin – 3/5 stars ★★★
  • Just As You Are by Camille Kellogg – 4/5 stars ★★★★
  • Real Life by Brandon Taylor – 4/5 stars ★★★★
  • Math in Drag by Kyne Santos – 5/5 stars ★★★★★
  • Book Lovers by Emily Henry – 5/5 stars ★★★★★
  • Even Though I Knew the End by C.L. Polk – 4/5 stars ★★★★
  • The Weight of Blood by Tiffany D. Jackson – 3.5/5 stars ★★★

Unfortunately, it finally happened. I did not manage to post anything this month. As I talk about below, it was a very busy month for me. Fingers crossed I will have something to post soon.

I have to admit, I also fell down on keeping up with my feed this month. However, when I got around to it there were some great posts. I loved reading Aelyn’s post about when you should, actually, judge a book by it’s cover. Because sometimes, it is appropriate. I also loved Azraa’s review of the essay collection I Hate Men.

As mentioned, I have been listening to a lot of audiobooks recently, but I have definitely still been listening to music while I am working. I have spent some time with Kacey Musgrave’s new album, Deeper Well, but also her 2015 album Pageant Material, which I absolutely love. I have also been enjoyed Olivia Rodrigo’s bonus songs on GUTS (spilled). My favorites are Obsessed and Stranger.

I had the absolute best time travelling to Chicago for Spring break! I went to many art museums, saw cool live theater and comedy, ate really good food, and spent time with loved ones. I was busy enough that I barely had time to read, and I definitely didn’t have time to do homework. That meant that I was solidly slammed with work for the two weeks after break. Thankfully, it has finally let up now, and I have room to breath. I am looking forward to this month, because I get to visit my partner (for like a day) and then my Mom is coming to visit later in the month. Plus, as mentioned, classes end this month, so I am sooo close to being done with school. It has been a pretty exhausting year, so I am ready for a break.
